Series and sequences
Recommended age: 2 to 3 years:
Using the 5 chicks of our Lilac Hen we are going to create a sequence according to their color, for example:
Yellow chick - white chick - yellow chick - white chick - yellow chick
....
...
Another sequence that we can create is with the size of the chicks like this:
Little chick - big chick - little chick - big chick - little chick
We always show our son the characteristic of the chick that we are taking into account to put in the sequence: "Look, we are going to put a small chick, now help me choose a big chick."
We can accompany these sequences with the chick tokens or we can even do the activity using only the tokens.
Recommended age: 4 to 6 years
We invite our son to draw his own sequences combining different characteristics and inventing new chicks.
One way could be for each chick to have a different shape, color and size, creating a sequence for example like this:
White triangle chick - yellow triangle chick - brown triangle chick - white triangle chick - yellow triangle chick - brown triangle chick.
Each time we increase the characteristics in the sequences, as our son becomes more aware of them.
Take advantage of the math tiles to create increasingly larger series and sequences!
