How to take babies' temperature?
Temperature taking
Fever, defined as a temperature greater than 38°C (measured with a thermometer) is a sign that alerts us to an illness. The main cause of fever in children is infections.
When faced with a child with fever, parents or caregivers should consult a doctor or pediatrician, especially if the child is under one year old. We should not provide any type of medication that has not been recommended by the doctor.
To measure temperature it is important to have a digital thermometer at home. Currently it is recommended to take the temperature measurement in the armpit and not in the rectum or mouth.
The body temperature of a newborn baby or young child can range between 36°C and 38°C.
